Pentode Radio

Ad free hassle free subscription free internet streaming of 60,000 quality radio stations

£0.99 · optional £0.99 upgrade · one-time, never a subscription

An aged Pentode radio set: a rusted metal case with its top open, glass valves of different shapes and sizes rising from inside, and the tuning dial glowing luminous green.

Radio that gets out of the way

No account to create, no adverts to sit through, no subscription to cancel. Just a very large number of radio stations and a way to find them.

60,000 stations

Local, national, college and internet-only stations from around the world, in one search box.

No ads, no account, no tracking

No sign-up, no profile, no advertising, and nothing about you collected. Ever.

Search that actually searches

Search by name, genre, country or language — and combine terms to narrow things down.

Favourites that make sense

Save stations into named lists — Jazz, News, Sunday morning — and rename them whenever you like.

Station details, including tags

See what a station really is — its genre tags, where it broadcasts from and how it streams — before you commit to it.

Plays the awkward streams

Plenty of stations use older or unusual streaming formats that other players give up on. Pentode Radio handles both modern HLS and legacy HTTP streams.

Dead stations get flagged

Stations that have gone off air get flagged rather than failing silently, and they're rechecked periodically to see whether they've come back.

AirPlay and lock-screen controls

Send audio to a HomePod or Apple TV, and control playback from the lock screen or your headphones.

Your favourites are yours

Export and import them as a plain file, so you can move them between devices. No cloud, no lock-in.

Add any station by hand

Got a stream URL that isn't in the catalogue? Paste it in and play it.

Native on Mac, iPhone and iPad

Built for the platforms it runs on, not wrapped up in a web view.

Questions

The things people ask before buying.

Do I need to create an account?

No. There is no sign-up, no login and no profile. Install it and it works.

Where do the stations come from?

From Radio-Browser, an open, community-maintained directory of internet radio stations. It's a public catalogue that anyone can contribute to, which is why it contains everything from national broadcasters to one-person stations run out of a spare room.

What's the difference between Basic and Premium?

Basic gives you the 1,000 most popular stations and up to 40 favourites. Premium opens up the entire 60,000-station catalogue with full search, unlimited favourites and lists, unlimited import and export, and station health details. Premium is a one-time £0.99 upgrade — there is no subscription on either tier.

Is it a subscription?

No. £0.99 buys the app, and a single optional £0.99 upgrade buys Premium. Nothing renews, nothing expires, and there is no recurring charge of any kind.

Can I add a station that isn't in the catalogue?

Yes. If you have a stream URL, you can paste it in and play it directly.

What happens when a station goes off air?

It gets flagged rather than failing silently, so you can see why a station in one of your lists isn't playing. Stations that come back to life have their flag cleared.

Can I move my favourites to another device?

Yes. Favourites export to a plain file you can keep or move anywhere, and import back in. On Basic you can export; Premium lifts the limit on both directions.

Do you collect any of my data?

No. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. Your favourites are stored only on your own device and are never sent to us. The full details are in the privacy policy.

What do I need to run it?

Pentode Radio runs on macOS 26.1 or later, and on iPhone and iPad running iOS 26.2 or later.

How do I get help?

Email z29ipo2x1@mozmail.com and we'll get back to you.
